Ah, lovely Green Street, not very Georgian looking we admit, not terribly glamorous like the rest of Bath, but is home to a fantastic tiny weeny pub which only about six people can get in at any time (photos to follow, you have to see to believe...) a very good butchers, a sausage shop, a fishmongers and fish restaurant as well as a few very nice independent boutiques. Bath is renowned for its independent shops. Sadly these are being lost due to the recession as well as the major stores taking over. We really hope these smaller places can hang on and survive the storm. In the meantime we try to frequent them as much as we can manage!
Great shot! It looks nice to walk:) In our town in Poland we also has 'Green Street':)
ReplyDeleteOh I agree so, so very much. What will our towns be without butchers, bakers, florists, fishmongers, grocers...??? I try to buy as much as I can at small shops and markets! This is such an atmospheric photo, I can't wait to see the pub! I've read articles about how pubs, especially country ones, are dying too :-(
ReplyDeleteGreat street scene and I can't wait to see the pub.
ReplyDeleteOh, you can't imagine how much I love England! I hope to be back in London next june, where we have some friends! I 'd like to invite you to visit my other blog (family) which is private, could you send me your e-mail address on valeriapalombo0@gmail.com.

Love the green...and your description of the pub. Will look forward to more photos of same.
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone and thanks for comments. Tom and I are now forced to go to the pub at the weekend in the name of art and the blog, so will post some photos soon as we've had a pint or two! We will also feature our favourite pub The Salamander, where it is like stepping back in time and they serve the best ale in the land!
ReplyDeleteI've just found your blog (came here via Nowy Sacz, if I spelt that correctly). Lovely photos! I have a very good friend in Bath, and really liked it when I visited it. Look forward to seeing more :)
ReplyDeleteI echo all you say here about smaller local shops hopefully not going under. Can't wait to see the micro pub. Lovely green tinge, a very retro slant on a beautiful city.
